NASA launched the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) into space last month with the objective of sending a spacecraft speeding at 15,000 miles per hour into the asteroid Dimorphos sometime between September 26 and October 1 next year.
The goal of the DART mission is to see if a mechanism for changing an asteroid's trajectory is feasible. DART has sent back its first photographs just two weeks after its launch.
