David Colombo has been coding since he was ten years old, and he only goes to school two days a week, spending the rest of his time consulting with companies on cybersecurity issues and honing his skills. During one of these audits, Colombo discovered that a software program on the network had exposed data about the chief technology officer's Tesla vehicle, including its current and historical location.
Tesla does not own the software program; instead, it is owned by a third-party whose details are being kept under wraps until the problem is resolved. Colombo exploited the flaw and was able to send commands to cars all over the world, including disabling security features, opening and closing doors, and turning up the music.
