Panasonic, a consumer electronics company, has recently joined the list of Japanese companies that offer four-day workweeks. The corporation recently announced that those who are interested would soon be able to take a third day off.
Four-day workweeks have been in the works for the better part of a decade, but they gained traction during the epidemic as people worked mostly from home and struggled to combine work and family obligations. When it comes to large-scale experiments of a four-day work schedule, the Icelandic experiment is frequently referenced as proving that productivity is unaffected by shorter work weeks.
